Abstract

Mitigative effects of salicylic acid and aspirin on salt stress-induced injuries during the stage of seed germination and seedling growth were studied in wheat. The results showed that, salicylic acid and aspirin could increase the germination percentage, germination index and vigor index, decrease the leaf relative electric conductivity and salt stress-induced injuries of plasma membrane, promote the activities of membrane-protective enzymes such as superoxide dismutase and peroxidase, and delay the accumulation of malon-dialdehyde, decrease transportation selectivity of Na~(+), K~(+) to shoot. It was also found that under 1.20% NaCl salt stress, the most suitable concentration of exogenous salicylic acid and aspirin were 0.10, 0.20g/L respectively. Therefore the injuries caused by salt stress to wheat seed germination and seedling growth were mitigated and the salt-tolerance of wheat were raised by exogenous salicylic acid ans aspirin.
