Abstract

Respiratory physiology has a long history, for example, the discovery of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction at least dated back to 1894. The development of human aviation in the first half of the 20th century gave birth to a climax of respiratory physiology research. Accumulated vast theories and basic understanding are combining with the rapid development of modern biological principles and technologies to comprehensively meet the challenges of human respiratory diseases, that is, the exploration and [1,2] of the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases. Chinese respiratory physiology scholars have also made important contributions and continue to work hard. In order to further promote the development of respiratory physiology research, Acta Physiologica Sinica commissioned the Committee of Respiratory Physiology of Chinese Physiology Society to organize this Speical Topic on Respiratory Physiology. The experts of the Committee of Respiratory Physiology of the Chinese Physiology Society have both teachers of basic subjects and clinical medical scientists, who actively organize and write articles, and widely collect relevant research progress among their counterparts in the whole country.
