Abstract
Cell division and chromosome number stability of callus of Taxus cuspidata after subculture for 4 years have been studied. Chromosome morphology during mitosis after 3-4 d of culture have been observed. Amitosis did not occur. Chromosome counting showed that the chromosome ploidy of callus cells of T. cuspidata was very stable during subculture for 4 years. The karyotype formula is 2n=24, which agrees with that from root-tip squash of seedlings.
