Abstract

These results suggested that the improvement of A. adsurgens protoplast culture by ASA was due to the enhancement of protoplast tolerance to oxidative stress occurring during isolation and culture of protoplasts and that SOD and APX rather than CAT might be the main enzymes responsible for scavenging the reactive oxygen species produced.

Key words: Astragalus adsuegens Pall.;Protoplast;Ascorbic acid (ASA);Malondialdehyde (MDA);Superoxide dismutase (SOD);Ascorbate peroxidase(APX)
