Abstract

In CMS line, treatment with Put+Spd+Spm made pollen fertility, and the contents of protein, DNA and RNA increased to some extent; but made the activities of protease, DNase and RNase decreased. In the maintainer line, treatment with D-Arg+MGBG made pollen fertility and contents of protein, DNA and RNA, and the activities of protease, DNase and RNase decreased. Put+Spd+Spm, however, could partly counteract the effect of D-Arg+MGBG on pollen fertility and contents of protein, DNA and RNA. After being treated with Put+Spd+Spm, the production rate of O~(.)_(2), MDA content and the activities of SOD and CAT in CMS line decreased. At the same time, however, the activity of POD increased. In the maintainer line, the production rate of O~(.)_(2) and MDA content increased by treatment with D-Arg+MGBG. Put+Spd+Spm could counteract this effect. Also, after being treated with D-Arg+MGBG, the activities of POD, SOD and CAT increased. Put+Spd+Spm, nevertheless, could merely decreased the stimulating effect of D-Arg+MGBG on POD. Meanwhile, pollen fertility in the maintainer line was decreased by D-Arg+MGBG.
