Abstract
Effects of EDTA and DTPA on the uptake of Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe and P by hyperaccumulator Thlaspi caerulescens J. & C. Presl were investigated in solution culture experiments. Under Zn 10#mu#mol/L treatment condition, EDTA or DTPA 43.2#mu#mol/L was added to nutrient solutions. The results showed that EDTA or DTPA treatment inhibited significantly the growth of T. caerulescens and decreased dry weight of shoots and roots. Rate of Zn uptake per unit weight of root, the concentrations of total and water-soluble Zn, Cu, and Mn in the shoots and roots were decreased significantly by treatment with EDTA or DTPA, and the concentrations of total Fe and P in the shoots were increased.
