Effects of taurine enhancement of synthesis of TxA_(2) and PGI_(2) in cultured intra-pulmonary arteriolar smooth muscle cells under acute hypoxia
Abstract
The results of the present study demonstrated that the concentrations of thromboxane B_(2) (TxB_(2)a) and 6-keto-prostaglandin F_(1#alpha#) (6-keto-PGF_(1#alpha#)), and their ratio were significantly increased in the medium of intra-pulmonary arteriolar smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) under acute hypoxia. Under either normoxia or hypoxia the concentration of TxB_(2) was significantly decreased with addition of taurine, while that of 6-keto-PGF_(1#alpha#) was significantly increased. With the addition of indomethacin, however, under similar conditions, the concentrations of both TxB_(2) and 6-keto-PGF_(1#alpha#) were decreased. Furthermore, the effect of indomathecin on TxA_(2) and 6-keto-PGF_(1#alpha#) concentrations could be reversed by taurine.
