Study on the ~(13)C discriminating values (#delta#~(13)C) of assimilates of functional leaves of YR, GR, compared with both their maternal and paternal parents, 2-line hybrid rice and 3-line hybrid rice
Abstract
The ~(13)C discriminating values (#thieta#~(13)C) of assimilates of the functional leaves of Yuanyou 1, GER-1, both their maternal and paternal cultivars, 2-line hybrid rice N31s×P40, 3-line hybrid rice Weiyou 64 grown under greenhouse by pot experiment at Guangzhou in 1993 were analysed by mass spectrometer MAT-251. The results obtained showed that #thieta#~(13)C of asimilates of Yuanyou 1 and GER-1, their maternal rice cultivars Gui 630 and Xiangzaoxian 8, two line hybrid rice N31s×P40 and three line hybrid rice Weiyou 64 were approximately same and are significantly different from those of Sorghum and Zea. It demonstrates that significant higher photosynthetic rate of Yuanyou 1, GER-1 can probably be explained by their higher Calvin-cycle metabolism efficiency rather than by their carbon-fixation pathway.
