Abstract

Arabidopsis thaliana mutants insensitive to brassinolide (BR) were isolated by screening for growth of seedling on a medium containing epi-BR 0.05mg/L. The mutant phenotypically changed in the morphology of roots and leaves. Genetic analysis of these mutants indicated that the BR insensitivity was due to a recessive mutation, which was designated as br. In addition, studies on the effects of epi-BR on the growth of leaves of mutant progenies and pH change of the bathing medium by using leaf discs showed that leaves of the mutant were as insensitive to epi-BR as roots.
