Abstract
Using the methods of polymerase chain reaction-amplified reverse-transcribed RNA isolated from the developing seeds and sequence analysis of amplified product, an intron of 1126 bp in size was identified in the 5^-untranslated region of rice Oryza sativa subsp. indica 232 cultivar Wx gene (Figs 2, 3). Its A+T content was found to be 67.4% (Table 1). The border sequences of this intron conform to the GT-AG rule. Considering similar results of previous experiments, it is suggested that this intron may play an important role in the regulation of Wx gene expression.
