Abstract
Evidence for the existence of a conjugated state of zeralenone(ZEN) in higher plant was reported. When a sample was extracted twice with ethy1 acetate and the presence of ZEN in both water-phase and ethy1 acetate-phase was tested by solid-phase radioimmunoassay(SPRIA) technique,it was found that ZEN existed in both the aqueous phase and the organic phase and that its content in water-phase decreaseed progressively during germination.Since the free ZEN molecule is known to be insoluble (or slightly soluble)0 in water, the ZEN found in the aqueous phase must be some combined form of it.By analysis of SPRIA and MS,ZEN was found in the ethy1 acetate extract of the water phase which had been subjected to the action of #bata#-d-glucosidase,but not in that of the water phase without deing subjected to the actin of the enzyme. The results indicated that ZEN mmight form a glucoside with D-glucose in higher plants. This research strongly suggested that ZEN,as other plant hormones, existed in both free and bound or conjugated state and normal growth and development of plants of plants would be regulated by its conversion from one to another.
