Abstract
The antiserum formed against the BADH from spinach leaves were allowed to cross-react with the crude BADH preparation from sugar beet leaves. The accumulation of BADH in the leaves or leaf discs was detected by immunodiffusion method. When sugar beet seedlings were subjected to a salt stress of 300 mmol/L,the accumulation of BADH was about 2 folds higher than that in control leaves. The BADH in the sugar beet leaf discs floated on a solution of NaC1 200 mmol/L for 13 h was also 2-4 folds higher than that in the control discs. When leaf discs were subjected to drought stress of -0.65-2.6 MPa for 18h,the BADH induced in the leaf discs increased about 2-4 folds. These results pointed to the importment function of BADH in the adaptation to drought and salt stress.
