Abstract
Endogenous GA_(1),GA_(3),GA_(4)GA_(7) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA) were measured by GC-MS in cotyledon and embryonic axis of aplle seeds at each stage of stratification (5℃) and warm moist storage(17℃).The results showed that the percentage of seed germination and fresh weight of axes increased with time after 40 d of stratification. The contents of GA_(3) and GA_(7) also increased markedly at low temperature, a peak of GA_(3) was seen in the cotyledon and one of GA_(7) in the axis on 50th d of stratification No GA_(1) was detected at all stages of stratification, and no significant effect of low temperature on the level of GA_(4) was found in both cotyledon and axis. The pattern of MeJA change was not temperature-dependent but was evidently affected by high moisture. It can be suggested that GA_(3) and GA_(7) are involved in the release of dormancy by low temperature and there might be differences between GA_(3) and GA_(7).
