Abstract
The effects of temperature on pollen fertility as well as on the content and components of anther protein in "thermo-sensitive genic male stertile rice"(TGMSR) Er-jiu-Qing S and An-Nong S-1 were investigated. Temperature has very significant effects on pollen fertility and anther protein. Under 30℃, most of pollen grains in Er-jiu-Qing S were aborted. Under 20℃, the percentage of fertile pollen grains in Er-Jiu-Qing S was also very low.In comparison with 25℃, soluble protein content of anther in Er-Jiu-Qing S under 30℃and 20℃ was remarkably higher. The anther protein components in Er-jiu-Qing S differ significantly from its ancient line Er-Jiu-Qing under 30℃.In SDS-PAGE pattern, protein bands with MW 13, 13.5 and 23.5 kD were absent in Er-Jiu-Qing S.Under 30℃, all pollen grains of An-Nong S-1 were aborted and soluble protein content of anther higher than 25℃ treatment. Anther protein components under 30℃ are differed from those under 25℃. In SDS-PAGE pattern of anther protein of 30℃ treatment, the protein band with MW 12 kD was absent. These results indicate that the content and components of the anther protein are related to pollen fertility in indica "TGMSR" as well as in japonica "PGMSR".
