Abstract

Net photosynthetic rate (P_(n))and dark respiratory rate (R_(d)) of sun leaves of four evergreen plants (V. odoratissimum, L. lucidum, B. multiplex and T. forlunei) grown in Shanghai at different temperatures were measured with an ADC CO_(2)infrared analyzer at saturated photosynthetically active radiation in four seasons of a year. The results showed that autumn was the best season for photosynthesis of all these plants tested. V. odoratissimum and L. lucidarm wer more adaptable to the changing natural environment thab B. mailtiplex and T. fortunei. These differences of acclimation of plaants seems to be related to hier natural distribution, for Shanghai is almost the northern boundary of habitat of B. multiplex and T. fortunei while V. odoratissimaum and L. lucidum can distribute in the north far from Shanghai.
