Abstract

Cytokinin-binding protein(CBP) was isolated from chloroplasts of wheat leaves and purified to a single protein by affinity chromatography on a BA-sepharose 6B column and then used as antigen. The rabbit antisera prepared contained antibodies against the CBP as judged by double-immuno-diffusion test. When chloroplasts were treated with the antiserum against CBP, Hill reaction activity was inhibited and the intensity of the slow phase of millisecond delayed light emission (msDLE) was reduced. The activity of photophosphorylation was also remarkably inhibited. It is suggested that CBP may affect the energy transduction process of chloroplasts.
