Abstract
Iron stress response of mutant E107 and its parent(cv ^Sparkle^)of Pisum sativum were studied in determining the root reduction activities, H~(+)excretion and Fe、Mn contents of shoots and roots under controlled conditions. Root ferric reduction activities and H~(+)excretion in E107 were higher than that in Sparkle. In contrast to those in the roots, the Fe, Mn contents of shoots in E107 were significantly higher than those in Sparkle. It can be concluded that not only the mobilization, but also the uptake and translocation of Fe and Mn in the single gene mutant E107, are very efficient as compared with those in its parent Sparkle.
