Effects of stimulation of dorsal medial area and ventral medial area of nucleus facialis on myoelectric activities of genioglossus and phrenic muscle

Abstract

Effects of electrical and chemical stimulation of the dorsal and ventral medial area of mucleus facialis (dMNF and vMNF) on myoelectric activities of genioglossus and phrenic muscle were observed in 44 urethane-anaesthetized and vagotomized rabbits. The results suggest that both dMNF and vMNF participate in the regulation of the myoelectric activities of genioglossus and the upper airway resistance.
