Identification of barley cultivars by reversed-phase high-per-formance liquid chromatographic analysis of their hordeins

Abstract

RP-HPLC shows that hordeins are a heterogeneous group of barley seed storage proteins whose composition varies among barley genotypes. Therefore, RP-HPLC analysis of hordeins extracted from barley flour samples can accurately and quickly differentiate and thereby serve to identify barley cultivars.
